Darren Isenberg shows how to re-create at home some of the key experiences people in the Events Industry are missing after six months of lock-downs and restrictions:
1. AIRLINE FOOD
From what I gather, many of us in the industry miss flying. So much so that some airlines have now begun selling meals on-line, in response to demand from Formerly Frequent Flyers!
Whilst the miss-ability of airline food is very much debatable, I DO understand the strange feeling of going from mutliple airline dining experiences a month to none. So, allow me to show you how you can minimise your missing of in-flight meal time by re-creating your own version of it!
STEPS
1. An hour before you plan to eat, put some cutlery in the fridge and a small slab of butter in the freezer.
2. At mealtime, get the most irritable member of the household to place the meal, covered in tin foil, on a trolley and walk backwards with it from the oven to where you are sitting, which should be in a chair facing a wall that your knees are almost touching.
3. Have them offer you a choice of two different dishes and, when you make your selection, they are to tell you only the other option is left.
4. For a beverage, if you want a red or white wine but don’t possess any of those mini bottles served on planes, have them place a full-size bottle a very long way away from you.
5. To make the experience as realistic as possible, occasionally spill some of your food on the person sitting next to you.
If, like me, you do this for a couple of months, you won’t miss airplane dining any more! And your wife won’t sit next to you at dinner anymore …
